Hello Dolphin Families!
The annual HES Read-A-Thon fundraiser is here! Our mission is to positively impact HES students’ lives by encouraging development through reading and fundraising to promote family and community enrichment activities for the HES community.
We are excited to announce this year’s HES reading goal of 250,000 minutes and our fundraising goal of $37,000 as a community. The 2024 Read-A-Thon will start August 23, 2024, at 6 am and end September 3, 2024, at 8 pm.
Why your family’s participation is so important:
The HES Read-A-Thon brings in over 90 % of PTA funding for the school year. In support of our 2024 schoolwide theme of Impact, the PTA proposes using funds to create a permanent shade space between the cafeteria and building 300 or new nets for the soccer field. The shade structure would provide much-needed shelter for outdoor lunches and outdoor activities like car rider pick-up and after-school care. The PTA will also continue funding classroom supplies for teachers, support for field trips, afterschool events, and so much more!
What’s new about the Read-A-Thon in 2024:
We are thrilled to announce the creation of the Masked Readers for this year’s Read-A-Thon. To kick off our Read-A-Thon, the HES Worldwide Dolphin News Network (WDNN) will give a special broadcast to all HES classrooms of interviews with our Masked Readers. Students will enjoy new books and old favorites while trying to guess who the Masked Readers are!
HES will host a schoolwide assembly for HES students on September 6th, 2024, to unmask our Masked Readers, celebrate all your children’s hard work during the Read-A-Thon, and announce all major category winners!
