Volunteers needed!  We still need folks to help out – especially when we are counting incoming money and making deposits since we need at least two people to count the money and one person to make the deposit.   If you are interested in helping with this effort, please sign up using the sign-up genius link

Room Parents Needed

We are in desperate need of room parents for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms. The lower grades are covered. If you would like to volunteer for a classroom  email us your Teacher.  President@hesdolphinspta.com

We are looking for two parents per classroom to fill the position of Room Parent.    The Room Parent position is a great way to ease your way into the Hillsborough PTA.

What does a Room Parent do?   Room Parents will pass along PTA information to your classroom parents. Some tasks Room Parents perform: sorting out their classroom prizes from Read-A-Thon, communicating volunteer opportunities, counting Box Tops from your classroom and helping with your teacher’s Spring Fling classroom  basket.

How much time does it take?  The time varies depending on the month 1-2 hours a month at the most.

Is it something I can do if I have little kids still at home? Yes and no  Some tasks you could easily do with smaller kids in tow- Get them to help count Box Tops!  Other jobs might not be suitable for little helpers tagging along, but that is why we are asking for two Room Parents per teacher.

What if my class already has two Room Parents? Send me your information anyway. they might have students in multiple classrooms. I may be able to use them for another teacher and free a spot for you!

Dolphin Directory
The PTA is in process of creating a digital Dolphin Directory. Once completed the directory will be shared electronically with all Hillsborough Elementary families or with just your classroom parent per your request. Please complete the following form from PTA (this is the same one that was shared at Meet and Greet)  https://tinyurl.com/DolphinDirectory1819
Mrs. Turnage’s Donors Choose Project
Let’s help students to see!  Document cameras hook up to the teacher’s projector and magnify items that sit underneath the camera to sizes that are much more easily seen by students who are far away.https://www.donorschoose.org/project/class-can-you-see-this/3451452/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=project&utm_term=teacher_392306&rf=directlink-dc-2018-08-project-teacher_392306&challengeid=47901
FYI- Donors Choose takes a percentage of the donation and puts it in the Donors Choose “pot”. If you want your full donation to go towards the project, please click on the blue words seen below to change the percentage to 0.

5th Grade Fundraiser for Washington, DC Trip
We are excited about the fifth-grade field trip to Washington, DC. The field trip has yet to be approved by the OCS School Board, but we want to continue preparing for the trip. We understand the financial cost of the field trip is a lot. Therefore, we have set up a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser!  In the past, the funds raised have helped decrease the cost of the trip by $35/student!  The fundraiser is only successful with your help!
  • We will be selling 3 products: Dozen Original Glazed, Certificate for Dozen Original Glazed, and BOGO Card.
  • Friday, August 10, 2018, students will bring order forms for Krispy Kreme sale.
  • Paper Order Forms are for Student/Family use. Parents will need to submit their total order with this online form (Contact the classroom teacher or Mrs. Richmond if you need help with this step.)
  • All money must be submitted to your child’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, August 23rd @ 8am
  • All orders must be submitted into the online form by Thursday, August 23rd @ 2pm
  • Tentative Delivery Date: Monday, August 27 (Once I’ve placed the order, I should have a specific date and time.)
Any questions about the Krispy Kreme Fundraiser, please contact Sierra Richmond.
HES PTA SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS
The HES PTA holds two book fairs each year, one in Fall and one in Spring. The book fairs are held in the HES media center. In the fall we earn scholastic dollars, based on our sales, which we then use to buy books for the HES library, school book rooms, and our March Madness Tournament of Books. Since we reach a certain sales amount in the fall, Scholastic then allows us to have a Buy One Get One Free fair in the spring. This year’s Fall Book Fair will be held November 5th through the 9th, and the Spring Fair will be held in April. More specific information on times and extra events will be provided as the Fair dates get closer.
The book fairs are so much fun for the students and so much fun to be a part of! If you would like information on volunteering, please contact Valerie Lund, valerie@briareos.net. Thank you!
