The HES PTA Read-A-Thon

Benefits Our Students

  • helps children re-engage academically after school break
  • encourages a lifelong love of reading and learning
  • builds school community via motivational assemblies, and exciting, literary-inspired events

Benefits Our School Community

  • a long-standing HES tradition for raising funds to support essential school operations and special programs for students
  • the goal is to earn enough to cover all programs in the PTA budget so additional fundraising during the school year is not needed

GoalTable

READ-A-THON Fundraising Goal 2017-2018

“SPECIALS” are classes in  Art, Music, Media Center, Spanish Language and Physical Education.

  • These classes enrich our children and promote self-expression
  • ALL HES students attend a different special class each day of the week
  • HES’s Five Specials Teachers carry out this valuable programming

Mr. Canosa – Music

Mr. Morales – Spanish

Mr. Oeschle – Art

Mrs. Shopmyer – Media

“Coach” Walker – Physical Education

  • The Specials Teachers ALSO provide elective classes for 2nd – 5th graders, providing hands-on learning for a wide range of subjects.

This year, HES PTA wants to show our appreciation for our Specials Teachers  — as a tribute to their creativity, dedication, passion, and the variety of engaging activities they provide each day.

Funding ideas include:

Spanish books  ~  Soccer equipment  ~  LEGO Maker Station  ~  Gatorskin sport balls  ~  Printing and art supplies  ~  iPads for digital music writing

If we reach our fundraising goal of $25,000, we can cover all planned PTA activities this year.

Any additional money we raise will be used to fund projects for our Specials Teachers.

PLEASE HELP US EXCEED OUR GOALS!

READ-A-THON Kick-Off Assembly

an HES tradition that students look forward to every year!

The main highlight is an action-packed skit starring members of the HES faculty!

There’s always a surprise . . .  and it’s always C R A Z Y!

STUDENTS LOVE IT!  We’ve had many former HES students — now in middle school, high school, and beyond — come back just to see the skit!

PARENTS and FAMILIES are encouraged to attend the READ-A-THON Assembly to join in on the fun.
